Phospho-tau serine-262 and serine-356 as biomarkers of pre-tangle soluble tau assemblies in Alzheimer's disease. Patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD) with little or no quantifiable insoluble brain tau neurofibrillary tangle (NFT) pathology demonstrate stronger clinical benefits of therapies than those with advanced NFTs. The formation of NFTs can be prevented by targeting the intermediate soluble tau assemblies (STAs). However, biochemical understanding and biomarkers of STAs are lacking. We show that Tris-buffered saline-soluble tau aggregates from autopsy-verified AD brain tissues include the core sequence ~tau. In neuropathological assessments, antibodies against the phosphorylation sites serine-262 and serine-356 within the STA core almost exclusively stained granular

Long-term outcomes of cyclophotocoagulation in refractory pediatric glaucoma: treatment response and success in 262 eyes. To report the surgical success and response to treatment for children undergoing cyclophotocoagulation (CPC) for refractory pediatric glaucoma. The medical records of children with a diagnosis of glaucoma who underwent a first CPC between May 2000 and May 2020 were reviewed retrospectively. The cumulative probability of success was assessed. For definition 1, treatment success was defined as IOP ≤21 mm Hg at all the visits after the first 3 months without the need for additional glaucoma surgery or repeat CPC. For definition 2, repeat CPC did not constitute failure. Of 300 eyes that underwent CPC, we identified 262 eyes eligible for inclusion. The mean age at time of first

Ten-Year Survival Rate of 82% in 262 Cases of Arthroscopic Bone Marrow Stimulation for Osteochondral Lesions of the Talus. The long-term sustainability of arthroscopic bone marrow stimulation (BMS) for osteochondral lesions of the talus (OLT) remains a matter of debate. The primary aim of the present study was to assess the 10-year survival free from revision in ankles that had undergone were the median time to revision and the effects of baseline factors (lesion size, primary or non-primary lesion type, preoperative cysts, and obesity as defined by a body mass index [BMI] of ≥30 kg/m2) on survival, analyzed with a Cox regression model and reported using hazard ratios (HRs). The 262 included patients had a mean follow-up of 15.3 ± 4.8 years. The 10-year cumulative survival rate

Biglycan neo-epitope (BGN262), a novel biomarker for screening early changes in equine osteoarthritic subchondral bone. Native biglycan (BGN), which can undergo proteolytic cleavage in pathological conditions, is well known to be involved in bone formation and mineralization. This study aimed to delineate the specific cleavage fragment, a neo-epitope for BGN (BGN), in synovial fluid

Chromosomal analysis of 262 miscarried conceptuses: a retrospective study. Embryonic chromosomal abnormality is one of the significant causative factors of pregnancy loss. Our goal was to investigate the differences of chromosomal abnormality between different conception modes in miscarried products of conception (POCs). A retrospective study included 262 miscarried POCs from 167 women

Long-term health-related quality of life in 262 patients with brain arteriovenous malformation. To discover the health-related quality of life (HRQOL) of patients with treated arteriovenous malformation (AVM), we used the self-applicable HRQOL instrument, the 15D, and analyzed the scores in both in the whole study population and specified cohorts. The 15D questionnaires were mailed to adult patients with AVM alive in 2016 (n = 432) in our database. Patients with completely eradicated AVM (n = 262) were included in a subsequent analysis. The results were compared with those of the general population standardized for age and sex. Subgroup analyses were conducted for epilepsy, number of bleeding episodes, location of the lesion, modified Rankin Scale score, and Spetzler-Ponce classification

Risk factors for postoperative severe morbidity after pheochromocytoma surgery: A single center retrospective analysis of 262 patients. Surgical resection is the primary treatment strategy for pheochromocytoma; however, it carries a high risk of morbidity and mortality. The risk factors for severe morbidity remain unclear and require further exploration. We aimed to identify the risk factors for severe morbidity after pheochromocytoma surgery in Chinese patients. We retrospectively reviewed 262 patients who underwent unilateral laparoscopic or open pheochromocytoma surgery at our center between January 1, 2007 and December 31, 2016. Patient demographics, as well as extensive perioperative data were recorded. Adjusted odds ratios and 95% confidence intervals were determined by multivariate

Cost-effectiveness analysis of dose-dense versus standard intravenous chemotherapy for ovarian cancer: An economic analysis of results from the Gynecologic Oncology Group protocol 262 randomized controlled trial. To determine the cost-effectiveness of dose-dense versus standard intravenous adjuvant chemotherapy for ovarian cancer using results from the no-bevacizumab cohort of the Gynecologic Oncology Group protocol 262 (GOG-262) randomized controlled trial, which reported a smaller absolute progression-free survival (PFS) benefit than the prior Japanese trial. A three-state Markov decision model from a healthcare system perspective with a 21day cycle length and 28month time-horizon was used to calculate incremental cost-effectiveness ratio (ICER) values per progression-free life-year saved

Growth rate of crystalline ice and the diffusivity of supercooled water from 126 to 262 K Understanding deeply supercooled water is key to unraveling many of water's anomalous properties. However, developing this understanding has proven difficult due to rapid and uncontrolled crystallization. Using a pulsed-laser-heating technique, we measure the growth rate of crystalline ice, G(T), for 180 K < T < 262 K, that is, deep within water's "no man's land" in ultrahigh-vacuum conditions. Isothermal measurements of G(T) are also made for 126 K ≤ T ≤ 151 K. The self-diffusion of supercooled liquid water, D(T), is obtained from G(T) using the Wilson-Frenkel model of crystal growth. For T > 237 K and P ∼ 10 Pa, G(T) and D(T) have super-Arrhenius ("fragile") temperature dependences, but both cross

Immediate breast volume replacement using a free dermal fat graft after breast cancer surgery: multi-institutional joint research of short-term outcomes in 262 Japanese patients Immediate volume replacement using a free dermal fat graft (FDFG) has been proven safe with early postoperative benefits. The aims of the present study were to clarify adequate indications and risk factors associated with operative morbidity. A multi-institutional analysis of partial mastectomy with immediate volume replacement with FDFG was undertaken in 14 hospitals specializing in breast cancer treatment. Clinical and oncological variables were analyzed to identify factors associated with postoperative complications. A total of 262 cases were analyzed. Considering the observation period and overlap of patients, 13 (5.4

The STEAP1262-270 peptide encapsulated into PLGA microspheres elicits strong cytotoxic T cell immunity in HLA-A*0201 transgenic mice-a new approach to immunotherapy against prostate carcinoma. PLGA microsphere-based vaccination has been proven to be effective in immunotherapy of syngeneic model tumors in mice. The critical step for the translation to humans is the identification of immunogenic tumor antigens and potent vaccine formulations to overcome immune tolerance. HLA-A*0201 transgenic mice were immunized with eight different human prostate cancer peptide antigens co-encapsulated with TLR ligands into PLGA microspheres and analyzed for antigen-specific and functional cytotoxic T lymphocyte responses. Only vaccination with STEAP1(262-270) peptide encapsulated in PLGA MS could
