Administrative burden for patients in U.S. health care settings Post-Affordable Care Act: A scoping review. Administrative burdens are the costs associated with receiving a service or accessing a program. Based on the Herd & Moynihan framework, they occur in three subcategories: learning costs, compliance costs, and psychological costs. Administrative burdens manifest inequitably, more significantly impacting vulnerable populations. Administrative burdens may impact the health of those trying to access services, and in some cases block access to health-promoting services entirely. This scoping review examined studies focused on the impact on patients of administrative burden administrative burden in health care settings in the U.S. following the passage of the Affordable Care Act. The impact of the affordable care act on perinatal mood and anxiety disorder diagnosis and treatment rates among Michigan Medicaid enrollees 2012-2018. Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs) affect one in five birthing individuals and represent a leading cause of maternal mortality. While these disorders are associated with a variety of poor outcomes and generate significant societal burden, underdiagnosis and undertreatment remain significant barriers to improved outcomes. We aimed to quantify whether the Patient Protection Affordable Care Act (ACA) improved PMAD diagnosis and treatment rates among Michigan Medicaid enrollees. We applied an interrupted time series framework to administrative Michigan Medicaid claims data to determine if PMAD monthly diagnosis or treatment rates

Trends in Medicaid Take-Up Among Eligible Adults After the Affordable Care Act Medicaid Expansions: 2014-2019. Little is known about how take-up of Medicaid among eligible adults has changed since 2014. This study used data from the Medical Expenditure Panel Survey to examine changes in Medicaid enrollment among Medicaid-eligible adults between 2014 and 2019. Eligibility for Medicaid 44.1% in 2014-2015 to 53.8% in 2016-2017. Among pre-Affordable Care Act (ACA)-eligible adults, there was no statistically significant change in the proportion enrolled in Medicaid between 2014-2015 and 2016-2017 (66.8% and 69.7%, respectively). There were significant differences in changes in take-up rates across population subgroups.

Improved survival and decreased cancer deaths in young adults with cancer after passage of the Affordable Care Act Dependent Coverage Expansion. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) allowed Americans aged 19-25 years to remain on their parents' health insurance plans until age 26 years (the Dependent Care Expansion [DCE]). Have those with cancer diagnoses benefited? The ACE DCE 7 ). During the first decade of the ACA, eligible young adults with cancer have had significantly improved survival and mortality. Additional policies expanding insurance coverage and enabling earlier cancer diagnosis among young adults are needed. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) Dependent Care Expansion (DCE) that began in the United States in 2011 allowed young adults aged 19-25 years

Affordable Care Act's Preventive Services Coverage Mandate and Receipt of Fluoride Varnish. The Affordable Care Act required private insurers to cover a set of recommended preventive services without cost-sharing. This included coverage of fluoride varnish (FV) applications without cost-sharing for children aged 1 through 5 during medical visits, an evidence-based treatment that prevents tooth with the change among children aged 6 to 9 years (P < .001; 95% confidence interval = 0.1-0.22). When examining spillover to children with Medicaid, the mandate was not associated with a significant increase in the probability of monthly FV receipt 1-year postmandate. This Affordable Care Act mandate requiring coverage of FV without cost-sharing was associated with higher rates of young children receiving FV

To investigate the effects of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and its elimination of cost-sharing on contraception utilization, pregnancy rates, and abortion rates. We conducted a retrospective cohort study within a healthcare system serving over 4.5 million insured members across 21 medical centers time-series analyses, while contraception use continued to increase post-ACA, new pregnancy rates declined at a faster rate than pre-ACA, and abortion rates continued to fall, though at a slightly slower pace than pre-ACA (p<0.05 for all trends). The Affordable Care Act's elimination of contraception cost-sharing led to increased contraception use, particularly LARC methods, and contributed
