Feasibility and acceptability for LION, a fully remote, randomized clinical trial within the VA for lighttherapy to improve sleep in Veterans with and without TBI: An MTBI2 sponsored protocol. Sleep-wake disturbances frequently present in Veterans with mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI). These TBI-related sleep impairments confer significant burden and commonly exacerbate other functional impairments. Therapies to improve sleep following mTBI are limited and studies in Veterans are even more scarce. In our previous pilot work, morning bright lighttherapy (MBLT) was found to be a feasible behavioral sleep intervention in Veterans with a history of mTBI; however, this was single-arm, open-label, and non-randomized, and therefore was not intended to establish efficacy. The present study, LION

The effect of solarium lighttherapy on selected biological and biochemical parameters of peripheral blood in young and old horses. The aim of the study was to assess the impact of solarium lighttherapy on selected biological and biochemical parameters of peripheral blood in recreational horses. The study involved 10 horses divided into two groups of young (aged 5 to 7 years) and old (aged 14 to 19 years) individuals. All animals participated in lighttherapy sessions every other day. Blood was sampled three times during the study: before the treatment, after five light sessions, and after ten light sessions. Morphological parameters, the activity of antioxidant enzymes, TAS values, and the levels of glutathione (GSH), vitamin D3, vitamin C, and malondialdehyde (MDA) were measured
Effects of bright lighttherapy on cingulate cortex dynamic functional connectivity and neurotransmitter activity in young adults with subthreshold depression. The neurobiological mechanisms behind the antidepressant effect of bright lighttherapy (BLT) are unclear. We aimed to explore the dynamic functional connectivity (dFC) changes of the cingulate cortex (CC) in subthreshold depression (StD
Safety of and chorioretinal circulation during repeated low-level red-lighttherapy for myopic children. To evaluate the safety of repeated low-level red-light (RLRL) therapy in children, and the dynamic evolution of choroidal and retinal blood flow. This is a single-centre, randomised, single-blind, parallel-group clinical trial. Seventy myopic children were randomly assigned to either
Red LightTherapy for Myopia-Current Regulatory Changes in China. This Viewpoint discusses the ophthalmic device, red lighttherapy, for myopia treatment in children and adolescents in China, including its development and use, safety concerns, and implications surrounding recent regulatory changes and reclassification of this device.
Efficiency evaluation and facial expressions biomarker of lighttherapy in youths with subthreshold depression: A randomized control trial study. Simpler and more feasible lighttherapy protocols, and objective indicators for assessing its effectiveness is lacking. We aimed to evaluate the efficacy of lighttherapy on subthreshold depression (SD) among college students and explore facial expressions as an objective biomarker across different treatment groups. From September 13, 2021, to January 4, 2022, college students with SD were recruited from a university in Hubei Province, randomly assigned to Bright LightTherapy (BLT) group (10,000 lx), Dim LightTherapy (DLT) group (200 lx), or Waiting List Control (WLC) group (no intervention). Self-reported questionnaire and facial expressions
Transcutaneous bilirubin in newborns before, during, and after home phototherapy-Results from a secondary analysis of a randomized controlled trial. Home phototherapy is recommended as an alternative to hospital-based therapy for neonatal jaundice in otherwise healthy full-term infants. With a reliable device for transcutaneous bilirubin (TcB) measurement, bilirubin values could be monitored at home during treatment. This study aimed to examine the accuracy of TcB measurement of bilirubin levels before, during, and after home phototherapy. Patients requiring phototherapy were assigned to home (intervention) or hospital-based phototherapy (control). Transcutaneous bilirubin measurement was made at the sternum (uncovered skin) and at sacrum (covered by the diaper during treatment
Comparison of BiliCocoon phototherapy with overhead phototherapy in hyperbilirubinemic neonates. A randomized clinical trial. Around 2-6% of term or late preterm neonates receive phototherapy for hyperbilirubinemia. Standard treatment today is overhead phototherapy. A new device has been developed, the BiliCocoon, where the neonates are "wrapped" presumably making them more comfortable. The aim was to compare the efficacy and performance of the BiliCocoon with overhead LED phototherapy. A randomized open-label multicenter trial in three Danish neonatal units. Healthy hyperbilirubinemic neonates, gestational age ≥33 weeks and postnatal age 24 h to 14 days were randomized to 24 hours' of treatment with BiliCocoon or overhead blue LED phototherapy with an equal level of irradiance. A mixed effect model
Bright lighttherapy and early morning attention, mathematical performance, electroencephalography and brain connectivity in adolescents with morning sleepiness. Adolescents typically sleep too little and feel drowsy during morning classes. We assessed whether morning use of an LED bright light device could increase alertness in school students. Twenty-six (8M/18F) healthy, unmedicated participants, ages 13-18 years, (mean 17.1±1.4) were recruited following screenings to exclude psychopathology. Baseline assessments were made of actigraph-assessed sleep, attention, math solving ability, electroencephalography and structural and functional MRI (N = 10-11, pre-post). Participants nonrandomly received 3-4 weeks of bright lighttherapy (BLT) for 30 minutes each morning and used blue light
Effects of lighttherapy on sleep and circadian rhythm in older type 2 diabetics living in long-term care facilities: a randomized controlled trial. Light influences the secretion of melatonin in the body and regulates circadian rhythms, which play an important role in sleep and mood. The light level of rooms in long-term care facilities is usually far below the threshold required to regulate the body's circadian rhythm, and insufficient light can easily lead to sleep and mood disturbances among older residents in nursing homes. Therefore, the objective of this study was to investigate the effects of lighttherapy on sleep and circadian rhythm in older adults with type 2 diabetes residing in long-term care facilities. This study was a prospective, single-blind, randomized controlled trial

Effects of Combining Music Therapy, LightTherapy, and Chromotherapy in the Treatment of Chronic Pain Patients: A Pilot Study. It is currently considered that around 30% of chronic pain patients are totally refractory to medical treatment. Among patients who remain responsive to medical treatment, it is estimated that between 20% and 50% are likely to discontinue treatment due to severe side effects. Given these therapeutic difficulties, a significant number of patients turn to complementary therapies. The LineQuartz® is a medical device that combines 3 complementary therapies, namely, music therapy, lighttherapy, and chromotherapy. We propose to evaluate its effectiveness in chronic pain patients. Between October 2021 and October 2022, 44 patients aged between 23 and 85 years (mean: 55.4
Bright LightTherapy as Add-On to Inpatient Treatment in Youth With Moderate to Severe Depression: A Randomized Clinical Trial. Major depressive disorder is one of the most common mental disorders among adolescents, entailing severe, long-term psychosocial impairment and a high risk of chronicity. In view of the large number of patients requiring treatment, along with insufficient treatment responses with small effect sizes, innovative adjunctive treatment strategies are urgently needed. To investigate whether the effect of adolescent psychiatric inpatient treatment as usual for major depressive disorder can be enhanced by simultaneous use of morning bright lighttherapy. This was a double-blind, placebo-controlled randomized parallel-group trial with enrollment between March 2018
