This multicenter, sham-controlled, randomized clinical trial was conducted in 3 tertiary hospitals in China from October 21, 2019, to November 13, 2021. Eligible participants were randomly allocated (1:1) to manual acupuncture (MA) or sham acupuncture (SA) groups
Effects and safety of acupuncture versus non-penetrating sham acupuncture for senile pruritus: Rationale and design for a randomized controlled trial. Senile pruritus (SP), characterized by idiopathic itch in individuals aged 60 years and older without primary skin lesions, significantly impacts sleep and quality of life. Effective alternative treatments are needed. Acupuncture has been suggested as a potential intervention to alleviate pruritus; however, its role in managing SP remains uncertain. This study aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of acupuncture for SP. This single-center, parallel, two-arm, randomized, sham-controlled trial will enroll 200 patients diagnosed with SP in a 1:1 ratio to either the acupuncture or sham acupuncture group, receiving acupuncture or sham
Sensitized-points acupuncture versus routine integrative acupuncture for chronic low back pain: A randomized-controlled feasibility study. Chronic low back pain (cLBP) is a global health complaint. Acupuncture is an effective therapy for cLBP; however, evidence for an optimal acupuncture practice scheme is limited. This study aimed to determine the feasibility of conducting a randomized controlled trial (RCT) to assess the effectiveness of two acupuncture regimes (sensitized-points acupuncture and routine integrative acupuncture package) for cLBP. This was a two-arm, assessor-blind, randomized-controlled feasibility study. Thirty adult participants with cLBP were randomly assigned into two groups. Each group received 8 sessions of either sensitized-points acupuncture or routine

Comparing the effects of computerized versus manual methods of identifying point-specific acupuncture as an adjunct to physiotherapy in the management of knee osteoarthritis: A randomized controlled trial protocol. Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is a prevalent condition causing significant pain and functional impairment. Acupuncture has shown promise as an adjunctive therapy, but conventional manual selection of acupoints lacks standardization. The Acugraph system provides a computerized method for identifying acupoints, potentially enhancing treatment precision. This study aims to compare the effects of computerized Acugraph-guided acupuncture versus manually selected acupuncture as adjuncts to physiotherapy in managing KOA. A randomized, double-blind controlled trial will be conducted with 50
The efficacy of acupuncture in relieving postoperative pain in patients with low simple anal fistula: Protocol of a prospective, randomised, controlled trial. Anal fistula surgery often leads to postoperative pain, which can hinder recovery and negatively impact patients' quality of life. This prospective, randomised, controlled trial (RCT) aims to investigate the efficacy of acupuncture in alleviating postoperative pain and reducing the usage of analgesic medications following anal fistula surgery. This single-centre, patient-blinded, assessor-blinded, placebo-controlled randomised controlled trial (RCT) will be conducted at a tertiary referral hospital. A total of 66 patients with low simple anal fistula will be randomised at a 1:1 ratio to receive either acupuncture or sham acupuncture
