                            Delta opioid receptor agonist BW373U86 attenuates post-resuscitation brain injury in a rat model of asphyxial cardiac arrest. The aim of this study was to investigate whether the DOR agonist BW373U86 conferred neuroprotection following ACA when given after resuscitation and to determine the long-term effects of chronic BW373U86 treatment on ACA-elicited brain injury. Animals were divided into acute and chronic treatment groups. Each group consisted of four sub-groups, including Sham, ACA, BW373U86 (BW373U86+ACA), and Naltrindole groups (Naltrindole and BW373U86+ACA).                             . However, no evidence is available for the direct effect of delta-opioid-receptor agonists on the cardiotoxicity of local anesthetics. Anesthetized Sprague Dawley rats were divided into five groups. Group NS received 2 ml·kg·min normal saline, group LE received 2 ml·kg·min 30% lipid emulsion and group BW received 0.1, 1.0, or 5.0 mg/kg BW373U86, a delta-opioid-receptor agonist, for 5 min. Then 0.5 % bupivacaine was infused intravenously at a rate of 3.0 mg·kg·min until asystole. The time of arrhythmia, 50% mean arterial pressure-, 50% heart rate-reduction and asystole were recorded, and the dose of bupivacaine at each time point was calculated.                             The delta-opioid receptor agonist (+)BW373U86 regulates BDNF mRNA expression in rats. delta-Opioid receptor agonists have antidepressant-like effects in behavioral models of depression. Chronic administration of classical antidepressants upregulates mRNA expression of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and its high-affinity tyrosine kinase receptor, TrkB in the frontal cortex and hippocampus of rats. Increases in BDNF and TrkB levels are thought to be important for the therapeutic effects of these drugs.
