Impact of resistance exercise program on muscle strength, cardiopulmonary function and glycolipid metabolism of bedridden population aged 80 years and above: A randomized controlled trial. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of a resistance exercise program in the bedridden older adults in China. The patients aged 80 years and above with stable diseases were randomly divided into control . In terms of cardiopulmonary function and glycolipid metabolism, the patients in the training groups had better lung capacity and high-density lipoprotein. The low-load and low-intensity resistance training may effectively improve not only the muscle strength of the bedridden older adults, but also the lung function and blood lipid metabolism.
Effects of predictive nursing interventions on pressure ulcer in elderly bedridden patients. The study explores the impact of predictive nursing interventions on pressure ulcers (PUs) in elderly bedridden patients. A total of 120 elderly bedridden patients from the Central Hospital of Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture between August 2019 and August 2023 were selected as the subjects ) scores, and nursing satisfaction between the two groups. In elderly bedridden patients, the application of predictive nursing interventions significantly reduced the incidence of PUs (p < 0.001), significantly lowered the SAS and SDS scores (p < 0.001), and also significantly increased Braden scale scores (p < 0.001) and delayed the onset time of PUs (p < 0.001). Additionally, it improved patients

Long-Term Risk of Being Bedridden in Elderly Patients Who Underwent Oncologic Surgery: A Retrospective Study Using a Japanese Claims Database. Although functional outcomes are important in surgery for elderly patients, the long-term functional prognosis following oncologic surgery is unclear. We retrospectively investigated the long-term, functional and survival prognosis following major oncologic surgery according to age among elderly patients. We used a Japanese administrative database to identify 11,896 patients aged ≥ 65 years who underwent major oncological surgery between June 2014 and February 2019. We investigated the association between age at surgery and the postoperative incidence of bedridden status and mortality. Using the Fine-Gray model and restricted cubic spline functions
Repeated Passive Mobilization to Stimulate Vascular Function in Individuals of Advanced Age Who Are Chronically Bedridden: A Randomized Controlled Trial. Vascular dysfunction and associated disorders are major side effects of chronic bed rest, yet passive mobilization as a potential treatment has only been theorized so far. This study investigated the effects of passive mobilization treatment on vascular function in older, chronically bedridden people. The study sample was 45 chronically bedridden people of advanced age (mean age: 87 years; 56% female; mean bed rest: 4 years) randomly assigned to a treatment (n = 23) or a control group (CTRL, n = 22). The treatment group received passive mobilization twice daily (30 minutes, 5 times/wk) for 4 weeks. A kinesiologist performed passive mobilization
External validation of a new predictive model for falls among inpatients using the official Japanese ADL scale, Bedriddenness ranks: a double-centered prospective cohort study. Several reliable predictive models for falls have been reported, but are too complicated and time-consuming to evaluate. We recently developed a new predictive model using just eight easily-available parameters including the official Japanese activities of daily living scale, Bedriddenness ranks, from the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. This model has not yet been prospectively validated. This study aims to prospectively validate our new predictive model for falls among inpatients admitted to two different hospitals. A double-centered prospective cohort study was performed from October 1, 2018, to September 30, 2019
Effect of Clinical Nursing Pathway Intervention Based on Evidence-Based Medicine on Venous Thrombosis in Long-Term Bedridden Patients. Venous thrombosis is a type of medical condition that establishes as deep vein thrombosis of the limb or pulmonary embolism. This disease arises as a result of interrelating hereditary, ecological, and interactive risk aspects. Clinical nursing pathways also known as critical pathways are pathways that guide nurses when developing a patient's care plan. However, the effect of nursing intervention on venous thrombosis in long-term bedridden patients from the perspective of evidence-based medicine had not been reported. A total of 170 patients hospitalized in the hospital from January 2021 to October 2021 were selected, and the bed time was more than 2
Effect of Nursing Outcome-Oriented Intervention on Airway Management in Elderly Long-Term Bedridden Patients. This study intended to explore the nursing outcome-oriented intervention's effect on airway management in elderly long-term bedridden patients. A total of 120 cases of elderly long-term bedridden patients admitted to our hospital from May 2018 to June 2020 were enrolled and randomly of pressure ulcers, aspiration, constipation, and the falling bed was lower than those in the control group, with statistical significance (all < 0.05). Nursing outcome-oriented intervention can effectively improve lung function, pulmonary infection, nutritional status, negative mood, and quality of life of long-term bedridden elderly patients.

Gastric Emptying of Elemental Liquid Diets Versus Semisolid Diets in Bedridden Gastrostomy-fed Patients. Aspiration is a common problem in bedridden gastrostomy-fed patients. We compared gastric emptying of an elemental liquid diet and a commercial semisolid diet in bedridden gastrostomy-fed patients. Study 1: from January 2013 to December 2016, consecutive bedridden patients receiving elemental liquid or a commercial semisolid diet in bedridden PEG patients and controls. Study 1: 18 patients were enrolled. Elemental liquid diet was aspirated from the trachea in 1 (5.6%) (once in 24 observations); neither aspiration pneumonia nor diarrhea developed during elemental liquid diet feeding over 2 weeks observation. Study 2: 8 PEG patients and 8 healthy subjects were separately randomized
The Effect of an Training Program for the Prevention of Pressure Ulcers in Bedridden Patients At Home Pressure ulcers are wounds that typically occur on bony prominences, primarily due to external factors such as pressure, friction, and shear, as well as internal factors related to the patient. These ulcers can lead to serious health issues and have a high incidence rate, negatively impacting is to take prevention measures. The basic approach in the prevention of pressure sores is to evaluate the possible risks to prevent the development of the wound before it occurs, early identification of the risk group and early implementation of prevention initiatives. EPUAP and NPUAP recommend that all bedridden patients with limited mobility should be considered in the risk group. In the light of all
