Efficacy and Safety of Water-Free Lipid Formulation System Containing Calcipotriol Against Psoriasis Vulgaris. Calcipotriol, a vitamin D analogue is widely used in the treatment of psoriasis. However, poor adherence to topical therapy has led to an ineffective use of the medication and built a barrier to the treatment's success. A water-free lipid-based formulation system has been developed to improve dosage and cosmetic properties along with patient compliance. This study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy and cutaneous safety of water-free lipid-based formulations containing calcipotriol (50 μg/g) as compared to their corresponding vehicles and marketed calcipotriol formulations in a psoriasis plaque test. In total, 24 subjects with chronic psoriasis vulgaris were enrolled

Effectiveness and safety of topical calcipotriol in the treatment of flat seborrheic keratosis on the face. Seborrheic keratosis is the most common slow-growing, benign epithelial tumour, usually appearing on sun-exposed areas. Treatment modalities for seborrheic keratosis may be uncomfortable and/or time-consuming. We present a case series of 12 patients with solitary seborrheic keratosis localized on the face treated with 0.005% calcipotriol ointment. The treatment lasted 3-8 months and resulted in complete regression of the lesions. Remission (follow-up period) lasted from 6 to 10 years. We conclude that topical calcipotriol may be a useful treatment option for seborrheic keratosis.

Calcipotriol Attenuates Form Deprivation Myopia Through a Signaling Pathway Parallel to TGF-β2-Induced Increases in Collagen Expression. To determine the role of calcipotriol, a vitamin D3 analogue, in myopia development and altering the expression of scleral α1 chain of type I collagen (Col1α1) in mice. We also aimed to identify if the signaling pathway mediating the above changes is different from the one involved in transforming growth factor β2 (TGF-β2)-mediated increases of COL1A1 in cultured human scleral fibroblasts (HSFs). C57BL/6J mice were either intraperitoneally injected with calcipotriol and subjected to form deprivation (FD) or exposed to normal refractive development for 4 weeks. Scleral vitamin D receptor (Vdr) expression was knocked down using a Sub-Tenon's capsule
