                            Transcriptomic profile induced by calcitriol in CaSki human cervical cancer cell line. The vitamin D endocrine system, primarily mediated by its main metabolite calcitriol and the vitamin D receptor (VDR), plays a critical role in numerous human physiological processes, ranging from calcium metabolism to the prevention of various tumors, including cervical cancer.                             Calcitriol Supplementation After Kidney Transplantation: Results of a Double-Blinded, Randomized, Placebo-Controlled Trial. A significant number of kidney transplant recipients have low BMD. We hypothesized that calcitriol administration over the first year post-transplantation would protect the cortical skeleton in recipients managed without corticosteroids by suppressing PTH and bone remodeling. In this double-blind, placebo-controlled trial, 67 participants aged ≥18 years on corticosteroid-sparing immunosuppressive regimen were randomized to daily calcitriol 0.5 mcg or placebo for 12 months after transplantation.                             Effect of calcitriol supplementation on infectious biomarkers in patients with positive systemic inflammatory response: A Randomized Controlled Trial. Sepsis is one of the common causes of hospitalization of patients in intensive care units. A significant role for vitamin D in sepsis has been proposed, which is due to its active metabolite, calcitriol. Evaluate the effect of calcitriol supplementation on infectious biomarkers, including procalcitonin and presepsin. Patients with sepsis were divided into intervention and control group. Patients in the intervention group received intravenous calcitriol daily for 3 days. The serum levels of procalcitonin and presepsin were evaluated on days 0, 3, and 5 after administration.                             Loss of maternal calcitriol reversibly alters early offspring growth and skeletal development in mice. Ablation of Cyp27b1 eliminates calcitriol but does not disturb fetal mineral homeostasis or skeletal development. However, independent of fetal genotypes, maternal loss of Cyp27b1 altered fetal mineral and hormonal levels compared to offspring of WT dams. We hypothesized that these maternal strength were no longer different between pups fostered by null vs. WT dams. In summary, pups fostered by Cyp27b1 nulls, regardless of birth dam, have proportionately smaller skeletons at 21 days, impaired microstructure, but normal mineral homeostasis.                             Calcitriol Treatment Is Safe and Increases Frataxin Levels in Friedreich Ataxia Patients. Calcitriol, the active form of vitamin D (also known as 1,25-dihydroxycholecalciferol), improves the phenotype and increases frataxin levels in cell models of Friedreich ataxia (FRDA). Based on these results, we aimed measuring the effects of a calcitriol dose of 0.25 mcg/24h in the neurological function protein levels were observed among sex- and age-matched controls (18.1 pg/μg), relative controls (10.1 pg/μg), and FRDA patients (5.7 pg/μg). The treatment was well tolerated by most patients, and only some of them experienced minor adverse effects at the beginning of the trial.                             Clinical protocol using calcium and calcitriol after paediatric total thyroidectomy decreases postoperative hypocalcaemia and inpatient blood tests. Postoperative hypocalcaemia is common after thyroidectomy. This study aimed to evaluate whether a standardised post-thyroidectomy protocol using prophylactic calcium and calcitriol reduces hypocalcaemia incidence after total thyroidectomy . Our standardized protocol decreased hypocalcemia and inpatient blood tests after total thyroidectomy in children. Future research should explore if incorporating preoperative calcium and calcitriol treatment, along with intraoperative PTH levels for risk management, can further reduce hypocalcemia rates in paediatric patients.

                            Calcitriol supplementation before parathyroidectomy and calcium level after surgery in parathyroid adenoma patients: a randomized controlled trial.                             Steroid responsive idiopathic calcitriol induced hypercalcemia: a case report and review of the literature. Idiopathic Calcitriol Induced Hypercalcemia is a rare cause of a common condition of hypercalcemia. Hypercalcemia is most commonly the result of hyperparathyroidism and together with hypercalcemia of malignancy accounts for over 95% of cases.                             Intramammary calcitriol treatment of mastitis alters profile of milk somatic cells and indicators of redox activity in milk. The objective of this experiment was to determine the effect of intramammary calcitriol treatment on indicators of inflammation during an intramammary bacterial infection. Lactating Holstein cows were challenged with intramammary Streptococcus uberis.                             The efficacy and safety of different doses of calcitriol combined with neutral phosphate in X-linked hypophosphatemia: a prospective study.
