Oral medicine: Factors associated with geographic tongue and fissured tongue. Despite this study being of cross-sectional design, these investigators concur with others in suggesting that some subjects with geographic tongue go on to develop fissured tongue.

HLA alleles in Brazilian patients with fissured tongue. Fissured tongue (FT) is a clinical condition manifested by numerous little furrows on the tongue's surface. Previously, the authors observed an association with HLA-C×06 in psoriasis (PS) and benign migratory glossitis (BMG); however, HLA-C was not surveyed in FT. This study investigated the association between HLA alleles and FT. Thirty

. The occurrence of lesions in the oral cavity is defined as rare, what can be explained by their nonspecific clinical image, and also by the possibility of being overlooked. Most characteristic symptoms of psoriasis occurring in the oral cavity are the geographic tongue and fissured tongue. It is also believed that there is a correlation between psoriasis and oral health- the periodontal and teeth condition

A total of 8676 tongue images were annotated by clinical experts, into seven categories, including the fissured tongue, tooth-marked tongue, stasis tongue, spotted tongue, greasy coating, peeled coating, and rotten coating. Based on the labeled tongue images, the deep learning model faster region-based convolutional neural networks (Faster R , precision, and F1-score of our model achieved 90.67%, 91.25%, 99.28%, and 95.00%, respectively. Over the tongue images from the medical checkup population, the model Faster R-CNN detected 41.49% fissured tongue images, 37.16% tooth-marked tongue images, 29.66% greasy coating images, 18.66% spotted tongue images, 9.97% stasis tongue images, 3.97% peeled coating images, and 1.22% rotten coating images

Melkersson-Rosenthal syndrome induced by COVID-19: A case report. Melkersson-Rosenthal syndrome is a rare condition characterized by a triad of orofacial edema, facial paralysis, and fissured tongue. Histopathological examination of the disease has demonstrated areas of inflammation involving mast cells. Activated mast cells also play a part in the pathogenesis of COVID-19 infection , as they release cytokines in the lungs. We present a case of a female patient presenting with edema. We present a case of a female patient presenting with edema. Her examination revealed edema in the right lower lip, right facial paralysis, and fissured tongue. COVID-19 may be associated with which was not previously included in the etiology of the disease.

Oral mucosal lesions (herpes, ulceration, neoformation, white lesion, red lesion, oral candidiasis, geographical tongue, petechial lesions, and fissured tongue) were evaluated within the Oral Diseases in Haemodialysis (ORAL-D) study, a multinational cohort study of 4726 haemodialysis adults. We conducted cox regression analyses adjusted for demographic and clinical tongue 4.9%, petechial lesions 7.9%, and fissured tongue 10.7%. During median follow-up of 3.5 years, 2114 patients died (1013 due to cardiovascular disease). No association was observed between any individual oral lesion and all-cause or cardiovascular mortality when adjusted for comorbidities, except for oral candidiasis, which was associated with all-cause mortality (adjusted hazard ratio 1.37, 95

with MALT present a more atrophic and more intensely fissured tongue, we aimed to semiquantify severity of tongue atrophy and clinically assess lingual appearance in pSS patients with and without MALT, and investigate whether tongue atrophy and fissured appearance could serve as clinical indicators/signs of MALT. A blinded complete oral examination was performed in pSS patients with and without MALT gland enlargement, lymphadenopathy, monoclonal gammopathy, rheumatoid factor positivity, higher focus and Tarpley scores in the minor salivary gland biopsy, and hyposalivation, compared to the pSS non-MALT patients. A significantly higher prevalence of tongue atrophy (68% vs 30%, p = 0.006) and fissured tongue (89% vs 33%, p < 0.001) was observed in the former group. Multivariate analysis showed
