Logistic regression analysis of the risk factors of anastomotic fistula after radical resection of esophageal‐cardiac cancer This study was conducted to investigate the risk factors of anastomotic fistula after the radical resection of esophageal-cardiac cancer. Five hundred and forty-four esophageal-cardiac cancer patients who underwent surgery and had complete clinical data were included variables were substituted into logistic regression to further evaluate the independent risk factors for postoperative anastomotic fistulas in esophageal-cardiac cancer. The incidence of anastomotic fistulas was 9.2% (50/544). Logistic regression analysis revealed that female gender (P < 0.05), laparoscopic surgery (P < 0.05), decreased postoperative albumin (P < 0.05), and postoperative renal dysfunction

Effect of early enteral nutrition on postoperative nutritional status and immune function in elderly patients with esophageal cancer or cardiac cancer To explore the effect of early enteral nutrition (EN) on postoperative nutritional status, intestinal permeability, and immune function in elderly patients with esophageal cancer or cardiac cancer. A total of 96 patients with esophageal cancer or cardiac cancer who underwent surgical treatment in our hospital from June 2007 to December 2010 were enrolled in this study. They were divided into EN group (n=50) and parenteral nutrition (PN) group (n=46) based on the nutrition support modes. The body weight, time to first flatus/defecation, average hospital stay, complications and mortality after the surgery as well as the liver function indicators

We recommend the indication as: esophageal tumor was located at least 27 cm away from the incisor teeth (for R0 resection during chest anastomosis, be sure no superior mediastinal lymph nodes metastasis were found preoperation), gastric tumor was located in the distal portion of the gastric tube and evaluated for clinical stage

Stratified analysis showed that Sox2 expression correlated with shorter lifespan only in patients with cardiac gastric cancers (P = 0.002) or stage I or II gastric cancers (P = 0.002); but not in patients with non-cardiac cancers (P = 0.556) or stage III or IV gastric cancers (P = 0.121 cancer is associated with cardiac cancer location and with early cancer stages (I and II).

The stem cell division theory of cancer. All cancer registries constantly show striking differences in cancer incidence by age and among tissues. For example, lung cancer is diagnosed hundreds of times more often at age 70 than at age 20, and lung cancer in nonsmokers occurs thousands of times more frequently than heart cancer in smokers. An analysis of these differences using basic concepts

Many biological processes and disease mechanisms are functionally conserved in the fly, such as development (e.g., body plan, heart), cancer, and neurodegenerative disease. Recently, the study of obesity and secondary pathologies, such as heart disease

Primary cardiac angiosarcoma: a prolonged response to surgical resection followed by concurrent chemoradiotherapy with docetaxel Primary cardiac cancer is a very rare disease, among which primary cardiac angiosarcoma is one of the most frequent type and is characterized by extremely poor prognosis without established optimal treatment. Here we report a case of primary cardiac angiosarcoma

examinations for treatment-naïve gastric cancer that were followed by endoscopic resection or surgery were included in the study. Lesions were classified as cardiac and non-cardiac cancer according to tumor location. The diagnostic performance of EUS in predicting invasion depth was compared between the two groups. The overall accuracy of EUS in predicting invasion depth did not differ between the cardiac and non-cardiac cancer groups (44.4 vs. 52.3 %, P = 0.259). The underestimation rate was higher in the cardiac cancer group than in the non-cardiac cancer group (37.0 vs. 18.5 %, P = 0.001). When the depth of invasion was predicted to be deeper than the mucosa (submucosal or deeper) by EUS, the positive predictive value was 82.1 [95 % confidence interval (CI), 66.5-92.5 %] and 62.9 % (95 % CI, 60.5-66.9

and individual competence to make the final decision (think DNR, heart, cancer etc - non infectious for simplicity) ? Right now, MSM has a terrible batting average around our house. * Log in to post commentsBy prn (not verified) on 25 Oct 2016 #permalink But honestly, to “cure” any disease or illness with western medicine requires you to take a drug every day and if you stop, it returns.
