Hysterosalpingo-foam sonography versus hysterosalpingography during fertility work-up: an economic evaluation alongside a randomized controlled trial. What are the costs and effects of tubal patency testing by hysterosalpingo-foam sonography (HyFoSy) compared to hysterosalpingography (HSG) in infertile women during the fertility work-up? During the fertility work-up, clinical management based

No pain relief by virtual reality during hysterosalpingography (HSG): results from a randomized controlled trial. Is virtual reality (VR) an effective non-pharmacological tool to reduce procedural pain during hysterosalpingography (HSG)? An HSG with VR does not reduce procedural pain scores compared to an HSG without VR. An HSG is often experienced as painful and uncomfortable. VR has been

Effects of virtual reality and nature sounds on pain and anxiety during hysterosalpingography: a randomized controlled trial. The objective of this study was to determine the effects of listening to nature sounds alone and virtual reality plus listening to nature sounds on pain and anxiety in hysterosalpingography. This three-arm parallel randomized controlled trial included 135 (45 in each group) women who underwent hysterosalpingography in Turkey. The virtual reality+nature sounds group viewed a nature video with virtual reality glasses and listened to nature sounds during hysterosalpingography, whereas the nature sounds group only listened to nature sounds. The control group received only routine care. During hysterosalpingography, women in virtual reality+nature sounds group

Comparison of pain score between Foleys catheter and Leich-Wilkinson cannula in hysterosalpingography by numerical rating scale - A randomized control trial. Hysterosalpingography (HSG) is the first-line investigation in infertility assessment to assess tubal patency. Clinicians use various instruments, including the Leich-Wilkinson cannula, Rubin cannula, Jorcho's cannula, Whitehead cannula , and foley's catheter, to instill the dye in the uterus. We randomly allocated 60 patients planned for hysterosalpingography to evaluate tubal patency as part of fertility workup to either Intra-uterine foley's catheter arm or Leich-Wilkinson cannula arm. The research team measured and compared immediate and delayed numerical pain scores in both arms. We observed significantly lower pain scores in Foley's

The effect of virtual reality on women's perceived pain, fear, anxiety, and views about the procedure during hysterosalpingography: A randomized controlled trial. Hysterosalpingography is a stressful procedure that causes pain and anxiety. Therefore, measures must be taken to reduce or eliminate the pain and anxiety associated with it. This paper investigated the effect of virtual reality (VR ) during hysterosalpingography on pain, anxiety, fear, physiological parameters, and satisfaction. A randomized controlled trial design was used. Patients were randomized into two groups (VR group = 31, control group = 31). The study was conducted between April 26 and June 30, 2022. Anxiety was evaluated using the State Anxiety Inventory. Pain, fear, and satisfaction were evaluated using the Visual

Effect of comfort theory-based nursing care on pain and comfort in women undergoing hysterosalpingography: a randomized controlled trial. This study aims to examine the effect of comfort theory-based nursing care on pain and comfort in women undergoing hysterosalpingography. This randomized control trial was conducted on 126 women (42 in each intervention and control group). Virtual reality -assisted education group) was effective in increasing women's comfort with painful invasive procedures such as hysterosalpingography and reducing pain. It is recommended that a nurse be present in the hysterosalpingography process, providing nursing care services continuously and introducing this program to working nurses.Clinical Trial Registration Number: NCT04676932.

Pain relief in hysterosalpingography. Hysterosalpingography (HSG) is a method of testing for tubal patency. However, women struggle to tolerate the procedure, as it is associated with some discomfort. Various pharmacological strategies are available that may reduce pain during the procedure, though there is no consensus as to the best method. To compare the effectiveness of different types

Is hysterosalpingo-foam sonography (HyFoSy) more tolerable in terms of pain and anxiety than hysterosalpingography (HSG)? A prospective real-world setting multicentre study. In 60% of sterile couples a female factor is present, with these being tubal factors in 30-50% of cases. A tubal patency test is also required in women without a male partner undergoing fertility treatment. Thus, an accurate , safe and tolerable technique should be available. The aim of this study is to determine and to compare hysterosalpingo-foam sonography (HyFoSy) and hysterosalpingography (HSG) tolerability in terms of pain and anxiety. This is a prospective real-world setting multicentre study conducted in two tertiary hospitals in Madrid. 210 infertile women/women without a male partner looking to get pregnant were

This retrospective study conducted at County Emergency Clinical Hospital Oradea, Bihor, Romania, between January 2017 and December 2019. The SELFI Study: Iodine excess and thyroid dysfunction in women undergoing oil-soluble contrast hysterosalpingography. Hysterosalpingography with oil-soluble contrast medium (OSCM) improves pregnancy rates. However, OSCM has high iodine content and long half-life, leading to potential iodine excess. To determine the pattern of iodine excess after OSCM hysterosalpingography and the impact on thyroid function. A prospective cohort study. 196 consecutive consenting eligible women without overt hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism were recruited. All completed the study with compliance >95%. Participants underwent OSCM hysterosalpingography (Auckland, 2019-2021) with serial monitoring of thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), free thyroxine (FT4) and urine iodine concentration (UIC) for 24 weeks
