CRISPR-mediated detection of Pneumocystis transcripts in bronchoalveolar, oropharyngeal, and serum specimens for Pneumocystis pneumonia diagnosis. Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia (PCP) is a leading cause of fungal pneumonia, but its diagnosis primarily relies on invasive bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) specimens that are difficult to obtain. Oropharyngeal swabs and serum could improve the PCP

Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia (PcP) is an opportunistic infection for which the standard of care is co-trimoxazole. However, safety concerns and intolerance may compromise its utility. To evaluate the safety and efficacy of the combination of echinocandins and clindamycin to treat PcP. We

Droplet digital PCR (ddPCR) is a novel assay to detect pneumocystis jjrovecii (Pj) which has been defined to be more sensitive than qPCR in recent studies. We aimed to explore whether clinical features of pneumocystis pneumonia (PCP) were associated with ddPCR copy numbers

Non-small cell lung cancer with bone metastasis and pneumocystis pneumonia in a pregnant woman: a case report and literature review. Cancer case during pregnancy is rare, but it is the second leading cause of maternal mortality. A-32-year old pregnant woman with a gestational age of 37 weeks was admitted to the hospital due to repeated coughing for 5 months. She received Veno-Venous Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (V-V ECMO) treatment for severe hypoxemia after delivery. She was diagnosed with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with bone metastasis and pneumocystis pneumonia (PCP). She subsequently received anti-tumor therapy and anti-infective therapy. After treatment, her condition improved and she was weaned from ECMO. Two weeks after weaning ECMO, her condition worsened again. Her

Toward a humanized mouse model of Pneumocystis pneumonia. Pneumocystis is an important opportunistic fungus that causes pneumonia in children and immunocompromised individuals. Recent genomic data show that divergence of major surface glycoproteins may confer speciation and host range selectivity. On the other hand, immune clearance between mice and humans is well correlated. Thus, we recognition of trophs (CD209) and asci (CLEC7A). These same genes were downregulated in CD4-deficient mice as well as twins with bare lymphocyte syndrome with Pneumocystis pneumonia.

Differences and similarities of high-resolution computed tomography features between pneumocystis pneumonia and cytomegalovirus pneumonia in AIDS patients. Accurately differentiating pneumocystis from cytomegalovirus pneumonia is crucial for correct therapy selection in AIDS patients. Hence, the goal of this study was to compare the computerized tomography (CT) features of pneumocystis pneumonia and cytomegalovirus pneumonia in AIDS patients and identify clinical hallmarks to accurately distinguish these two pathologies. A total of 112 AIDS patients (78 with pneumocystis pneumonia and 34 cytomegalovirus pneumonia) at Beijing Ditan Hospital from January 2017 to May 2019 were included in this study. Two experienced chest radiologists retrospectively reviewed CT images for 17 features including ground-glass
