Boosting or inhibiting - how semantic-pragmatic and syntactic cues affect prosodic prominence relations in German. In this exploratory study, we investigate the influence of several semantic-pragmatic and syntactic factors on prosodic prominence production in German, namely referential and lexical newness/givenness, grammatical role, and position of a referential target word within a sentence . Especially in terms of the probabilistic distribution of accent status (nuclear, prenuclear, deaccentuation) we find evidence for an additive influence of the discourse-related and syntactic cues, with lexical newness and initial sentence position showing the strongest boosting effects on a target word's prosodic prominence. The relative strength of the initial position is found in nearly all prosodic

Endorsements of five reporting guidelines for biomedical research by journals of prominent publishers. Biomedical research reporting guidelines provide a framework by which journal editors and the researchers who conduct studies can ensure that the reported research is both complete and transparent. With more than 16 different guidelines for the 11 major study types of medical and health research , authors need to be familiar with journal reporting standards. To assess the current endorsements of reporting guidelines for biomedical and health research, this study examined the instructions for authors (IFAs) of 559 biomedical journals by 11 prominent publishers that publish original research or systematic reviews/meta-analyses. Data from the above original sources were cleaned and restructured

Prosody matters: Preserved prominence marking strategies in people with Parkinson's disease independent of motor status. While many studies focus on segmental variation in Parkinsonian speech, little is known about prosodic modulations reflecting the ability to adapt to communicative demands in people with Parkinson's disease (PwPD). This type of prosodic modulation is important for social of the oral articulators: tongue tip movements were smaller and lower lip movements were larger in amplitude under levodopa, reflecting a more agile and efficient articulatory movement under levodopa. Thus, respiratory-phonatory functions and consonant production improved, while syllable duration and tongue body kinematics did not change. Interestingly, prominence marking strategies were comparable between

Puff Bar, a disposable electronic nicotine delivery system (ENDS), was the ENDS brand most commonly used by U.S. youth in 2021. We explored whether Puff Bar's rise in marketplace prominence ), and the number of visits to the Puff Bar website (web traffic) exhibited potential for surveilling Puff Bar due to ease of calculation, comprehensibility, and responsiveness to events. Advertising tracked through Numerator and Comperemedia did not appear to capture marketing from Puff Bar's manufacturer or drive change in marketplace prominence. Effectiveness of supracondylar dome osteotomy in reducing lateral condylar prominence and enhancing functional outcomes in pediatric cubitus varus: a retrospective study. Cubitus varus, a common complication of pediatric supracondylar humerus fractures, presents with internal rotation, extension, and varus angulation. While primarily considered a cosmetic concern, it can lead to significant complications, including chronic pain, ulnar nerve palsy, and posterolateral elbow instability. This study evaluates the effectiveness of supracondylar dome osteotomy in decreasing lateral condylar prominence and improving functional outcomes in patients with cubitus varus. This retrospective cohort study analyzed 65 patients under 18 who underwent dome-shaped corrective osteotomy between 2017 and 2022

The major spliceosome includes five small nuclear RNA (snRNAs), U1, U2, U4, U5 and U6, each of which is encoded by multiple genes. Greater nurse density correlates to higher level of population ageing globally, but is more prominent in developed countries. Representing over 50% of the healthcare workforce, nurses provide care to people at all ages. This study advances, at a population level, that high levels of nursing services, measured by nurse density may significantly promote population ageing measured by the percentage . The universal correlations identified in country groupings suggest that low nurse density may be a significant global concern. While nurse density might contribute significantly to 65yo% globally, the effect was more prominent in developed countries. Ironically, countries with higher nurse densities and therefore greater levels of 65yo%, were countries with an increased need for more nursing staff

Evaluation of open-face maxillary complete denture for patients with prominent premaxilla: a crossover study. The establishment of good facial esthetics is one of the main objectives of complete denture construction. Unfortunately, it may be the caused issue for patients having a prominent premaxilla due to excessive lip support by the labial flange of the maxillary denture. Open-face dentures (OFD) may suggest suitable prosthetic management for these patients. However, clinical evidence regarding the efficiency of OFD is scarce. A total of 38 completely edentulous participants having prominent premaxilla and skeletal class I Angle's classification were enrolled in this study. Each participant received a mandibular complete denture and 2 opposing maxillary dentures; conventional (CD
